Commanding Officer's Message
Welcome to 3005 39 Service Battalion Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps!
Army Cadets is open to all young people between the ages of 12 and 18. The Cadet movement mandate is to foster in the youth of the country better citizenship, leadership, athletic fitness and an interest in the army element of the Canadian Forces. Although we aim to challenge our cadets, the highest priority is given to their safety and welfare by ensuring that all our activities are amply supervised and organized.
We commit to develop in each and every Army Cadet the qualities of leadership and the aspiration to become a valued member of their community. We reinforce values necessary to prepare youth to meet the challenges of tomorrow and to embrace the multicultural dimensions of Canada. To this end, we offer dynamic training program in a supportive and efficient environment where change is a positive and essential element.
Here at 3005 RCACC, we believe the Cadet Corps should be about meeting new friends, taking part in outdoor activities, learning new skills and becoming a leader. In order to meet these challenges, a number of programs take place including an award winning band program, a marksmanship program, a drill team and an orienteering team. These programs are free of charge and all equipment is provided. During the training year, various competitions take place to allow our Cadets to demonstrate their new found skills in a competitive atmosphere with their peers from other cadet units in the area.
Army cadets have the opportunity to participate in summer training in across Canada. These two, three and six week courses focus on various training including band, marksmanship, drill, fitness and sports, and expedition. There are also opportunities for cadets to take advanced training which includes international exchanges to England, Scotland, Wales, and a battlefield tour of Europe, as well as the highly sought after Basic Parachutist Course.
We parade on Thursday evenings from 6-9 and are located upstairs in the Lt. General Ashton Armoury at 724 Vanalman Ave. Come in and meet with us to learn more about the opportunities that Army Cadets can give you!
If you don't want to come alone then why not bring a friend?
